Frequently Asked Questions
Does the DTC endorse candidates who are not Democrats?
Yes. The DTC is willing to endorse and support honest, qualified candidates of any party.
Does the DTC advocate government regulation?
The DTC advocates minimal regulation while advocating whatever regulation is necessary to protect the peace, security, and wellbeing of Sprague residents.
Does the DTC advocate giving welfare to people who can work?
No. But the DTC believes government can and should help people prepare to work, such as with education. The DTC also believes that children should not suffer hunger, poor education, or lack of healthcare just because their parents cannot afford it.
Does the DTC advocate accepting grants from state and federal governments or private sources?
In general, the DTC believes grants are beneficial to the town as long as they do not result in excessive spending by the town. Grants are generally an effective way to improve the quality of life in Sprague and protect property values.
Why should I join the DTC?
The fundamental mission of the DTC is to promote good government, qualified candidates, and fair, effective policies. All citizens in a Democracy should help in this mission. The DTC is a good place to do that.
How do I know if I am qualified to serve on a Board or Commission, such as the Board of Education or Board of Finance?
No great expertise is needed to serve on a Board or Commission, though it helps. Sprague is always in need of candidates. The DTC is eager to help citizens serve their town.
Are Democrats a bunch of socialists or communists?
